He was born on December 7, 1978, in Menapur village, Hajiganj upazila, Chandpur district, into a noble Muslim family. His father, Md. Bashir Ullah, was a teacher. His mother, Jahanara Begum, was a housewife, and his grandfather, Wazir Ali Prodhan, was a teacher and scholar. Dr. Prodhan got a scholarship in the district-based talent pool in grades 5 and 8. He passed SSC in 1st division and got star marks from BM High School, Chandpur in 1994 and completed HSC in 1st division from BAF Shaheen College, Kurmitola, Dhaka in 1996. Then, in 2000, he received his bachelor's degree in physiotherapy from the National Orthopedic Hospital and Rehabilitation Institute (NITOR), which is affiliated with Dhaka University's Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Prodhan started his career as a teacher and joined Bangladesh Medical College as a lecturer in 2004. Besides teaching medical science, he joined Dhaka Metropolitan Medical Center as a consultant. Later, he obtained an MS (Disability and Rehabilitation) from Bangladesh and a PhD from India. His research topic was “Comparison Study of Back Pain between Urban and Rural People.” He published many articles in various domestic and foreign medical journals. Since his student life, he has been doing educational programs in various newspapers, radio, and television. He is associated with various cultural, social, and economic organizations. Dr. Prodhan is the founder vice president of the Bangladesh Physiotherapy Society (BPS). He has been working as a specialist doctor for various sports organizations, including the Bangladesh Tennis Federation. He has published articles in various domestic and foreign medical seminars, including in Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, and Thailand. Currently, Dr. Md. Shafiullah Prodhan works as a physiotherapy, disability, and rehabilitation specialist at DPRC Ltd. and an associate professor at the International Institute of Health Sciences (IIHS). Moreover, he has participated in various programs related to healthcare in various newspapers, radio, and television and has published books and different articles. In personal life, Dr. Prodhan is the father of two daughters and two sons.
